Spring Home Refresh: Simple Ways To Refresh Your Home

We turned our clocks forward today and Spring is just around the corner so it was time to refresh our home for the new season. We spent the week deep cleaning and de-cluttering our home and it feels so much lighter and fresher. Sometimes I feel like I want the holiday season to last all year because I love it so much, but there’s just something about getting to pack away the Christmas decorations and declutter that is needed after the long winter.

Lightening up our moody bedroom

When I designed our primary bedroom I went with a very moody, calming palette but with a few simple changes, I was able to make it feel brighter and lighter.

Bedding - I swapped out our darker bedding for a lighter color option and added a yellow floral throw pillow.

Florals - I swapped our warmer faux flowers with bright white stems that give a great contrast to the dark green walls.

Linens & Light - I added a long piece of linen fabric to the top of our dress to give it a lighter textural element and added white candles on top of lighter neutral hardback books.

Designing a home that effortlessly welcomes every season

When designing any room I like to keep the “foundational” elements of the space very neutral and versatile - like the flooring, wall color, window treatments & furniture. This way you can easily keep these pieces and effortlessly add in decor fit for the season.

In our living room, I added new floral pillow covers on the couch and white faux florals on the mantle and coffee table.

This instantly made the space feel refreshed and spring-y.

Here are simple ways you can REFRESH YOUR HOME FOR SPRING

  • Declutter & deep clean

  • Bring the outdoors in by adding real plants to your spaces

  • Invite pops of color through pillows, taper candles, vases & florals

  • Swap darker florals for lighter ones (white geraniums, roses & tulips)

  • Move around furniture in your home or room

  • Swap out art for ones with lighter more Spring colors or scenes

  • Add in floral, linen or lighter color pillows around your home

  • Update the towels in your bathroom to a light or brighter color

  • Update your bedding to something light and natural
